Everything Gets Bigger During l Pregnancy…But WHY This??

I understand that everything can get bigger during pregnancy due to swelling, retaining water, and increase blood flow…but WHY does our nose get bigger too?

The blood vessels in your nose are really tiny. When your pregnant you have a major increase in blood in your body and this increases will expand the blood vessels in your nose causing it to look bigger or even change shape. Your doing great mama keep going! ❤❤❤

Biologist here! Relaxin is the hormone that prepares your body to give birth. It allows your cartilage is to soften so that the birth canal can widen to push a cranium through it. Your nose is made of mostly cartilage with a bone base, so the cartilage of your nose is softening. Your nose is also probably squishier and more flexible then it was.

37 weeks pregnant here and my nose was big to begin with, now my nose takes up half my face . Every pregnancy it gets bigger it seems.

Im so happy to have my prepregnancy face back! My nose, chin, cheeks, just everything was swollen. Even my brother freaked out saying i look like a different person. I didnt recognize myself in the mirror, it was awful. Now everything is back to normal, im just heavier which i expected to be and know as time goes on ill get back into shape

Yes! My stepmom said my nose was bigger when I saw her (I was 8 month I believe) and I remember being offended on the inside and I think she could tell and she was reassuring me that it happens haha I was like uhhh what??

Your nose gets bigger when you're close to delivering. It's due to the hormones. As an L+D RN, on my floor we call it "blooming". If a woman comes in and her nose has "bloomed" we know it's most likely NOT a false alarm and it's game time...but if one comes in with her normal nose, almost 100% of the time it is NOT baby time but dehydration or Braxton hicks, lol. It's just one of the little things you observe and learn after 14 years on the L+D floor.

Everything really does. I’m 20 weeks today and let me tell you how absolutely CONFUSING it is for my actual weight to have only increased by a handful of pounds while my body in weird ways has SWELLED to the point where I look pretty fricking obese… I’m so nervous to see how i look post partum my wedding ring barely fits me some days

Your nose actually never stops growing

Fun fact when you are pregnant and you produce a lot more mucus and in a lot of women, your allergies can get worse or you can develop them so your nose might actually be swollen due to the mucus glands overproducing as well as allergies so your nose being bigger might actually just be your sinus cavity being swollen and being congested with the extra mucus.
