Bits & Beats creates videos about the history of video games. In this channel you'll find comparisons, retrospectives, technical analysis, but, mostly, game curations with the idea of having an important task of preserving video games, and make them relevant to society at large.

Curation isn't just about digging up neat games, but it's also about preservation, interpretation, and using one's knowledge to make it relevant to people. With my videos I want older gamers to look back and remember the influence of video games on their lives, and new gamers to understand the larger context of the series they're playing for the first time today.

I put significant time and creative effort into each one of my videos, including research, digging into archives, playing video games and recording hours of footage, selecting specific clips, writing reviews for each title, and making a very careful video editing in the way to transmit both educational and entertaining values to my audience. Every video takes a lot of hours to produce, because I strive to give my audience a consistent, high-quality content.

Fidelity and preservation of the video games is essential in Bits & Beats, so the recordings are made with the highest bitrate quality. It is done this way to preserve original game look and sound through modern footage, with no superfluous additions. I recommend you watch the video at 4K and 60 frames per second to get the best possible viewing experience.

I hope you enjoy my videos and find them useful!

It's really hard to make a perfect selection for this genre, I'm sorry to have to omit great games... but I've also tried to be eclectic and compensate between systems. I hope you understand (maybe I'll make a second part of the video). By the way, only one game per franchise. Enjoy!

The Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racing arcade machine was quite awesome. You sit in a pod facing a giant screen. The controls were two handles that you can either push forward for max speed. Pull them back to slow down. Turns were done by one side up and the other down. There were boost buttons to press with your thumbs on the handles.

SUPER SUPER CLASSIC!! Even I was born in the 90s. 90s - 2000s really miss those eras!

Where is Daytona USA? The most iconic arcade from 90s.
At the time, Scud Race was nice, but Indy 500 was the improvement for Virtua Racing.

Nice list.

And FYI, Winning Run is the 1st 3d arcade racing game, it is from Namco, 1988.

Outrun, Virtua Racing y Daytona USA tuvieron un impacto en la industria que, a la fecha, muy pocos reconocen. La base de todos los juegos de carrera modernos actuales salieron a raíz de estos clásicos.

Rush 2049 got released in 1999 not 1998. What i would recommend is playing the Arcade Rom especially the Special Edition. But all in all this list is pretty solid!

1. I'm surprised you didn't add neo drift out.
2A. I love that you included both pod racer and hydro thunder
2B. They really need to make a modern remake or sequel to pod racer and make a modified version h2overdrive

Overall a good selection but I would have added a few games over some of the picks (like Rad Mobile or Rock'n Roll Racing):
F1 Super Lap, Beetle Adventure Racing, Top Gear Rally, Thrill Drive.

I've never played the actual arcade version, which came out in 1998, but I'm a big fan of (Ferrari) F355 Challenge from Sega/AM2 on Dreamcast and PS2.

*My top 4:*
SEGA Rally Championship (ARCADE)
Ridge Racer Type 4
Crash Team Racing
Daytona USA (ARCADE)

Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero X are honourable mentions, but they were only really great on multi player IMHO
