I'm so surprised by the people just passing by looking at her and just ignoring the whole situation. It's so sad .

I think many people would help if she asked them. You can see how they look back at her. I heard that disabled people are sometimes sad from the fact that people offer help when they just want to live their happy life. She didn’t look around like she needed help.

I wouldn't think twice about helping this woman.

Sometimes people don't know how to start helping. If you can see, they see her and seem hesitant if she needs or not help. That's why she can also TALK and ask for it.

Many people looked at her actually, even held their gaze and slowed down or turned around. She was calmly looking around her, honestly she looked like she was waiting for someone, she didn’t look panicked, in distress or in need of help. It is often said that disabled people feel uncomfortable when people around start helping, asking questions etc. Hence, my rule is - ask for help if you need it. Especially when you need someone to physically touch you or your wheelchair or other equipment.

As a disabled person and wheelchair user, I’m not frustrated at the people ignoring her so much as I’m incredibly frustrated that there isn’t a ramp in the area. We need help with legislation and public accessibility, not just helping this fellow disabled sister down a set of steps. No disabled person should have to feel obligated to wait for someone else’s kindness. We should be able to access the world like everyone else.

Many of the people walking past was waiting for her to ask them to help as they kept giving her eye contact. But since she didn't say anything, they walked by as they didn't want to disturb. Most people don't like approaching someone out of the fear of bothering someone, even if they're disabled. Most people would help out when asked, especially when they've already opened the possibility with eye contact.

I appreciate all of the people who looked at her and then minded their business because they assumed she must be fine if she's not asking for help. It's nice to not underestimate others, too

When I was in a wheelchair. The road was a mess, huge potholes. Two buffed out guys picked me up, and lifted me over the mess. ❤Thanks guys, 2019, Paso Robles Fair❤

So many people walked by, looked at her, and she turned her head and looked AWAY from them. That's a universal "leave me alone" signal. Can't blame them for not stopping.

I offered someone in a wheelchair help and they screamed at me and told me I was a horrible person and how they wanted to do it alone. I think if people weren't so easily offended more people would offer their help.

Thats a great American. We need more people like him and his friend. God bless all three of them.

I see the point... but also... ask for help, and 9/10 people would be happy to. A lot of people don't want to infer that a disabled person is incapable all of the time. So two lessons: ask for help, and offer to help.

This is why I love my husband. He will stop his truck to help someone. Always asks to buy people meals. Just 2 weeks ago he stopped to get out to push a man back to his assisted living facility when the mans motorwheelchair died. He really just goes out of his way for people and I never really took enough notice to appreciate how caring he is. Its not hard to ask if someone needs help. Most people say no they're fine anyway.

We are often taught that it is rude to offer help without being asked to in this situation.
