it was scary to take that jump. The game seems to be suggesting that I take the jump but I had no idea if it was a trick or if I would survive.

Guessing there's a certain distance limit at which it's inactive and will not activate if you approach too rapidly.
2 instances from my playthrough:
1. Duga region has teleport anomaly which is supposed to send you across the street into the air above this stuff. Couldn't land safely. Shorter vertical drop than in the clip, but horizontal distance between the roof and teleport is longer.
2. Red Forest are with giant excavator. Much taller drop from the top to the ground than in the spot in the video. Also doesn't prevent fall damage.
Last version I played on was 1.03. Might be fixed on later versions, didn't check.

They kinda dont't work as intended. At least lore accurate
Springboard anomaly would throw you high enough to kill you with following fall damge. I think that original idea was that if you just step on them they would kill you, but if you fall into them for high enough you'd get a soft landing just like now. In one of the books it was stated that this thing is pushing so hard that it could break your legs.

Got 2 days of gameplay loving it but now I’m at invisible threats quest and whole game is broken can’t do quest can’t save game can’t fast travel 😭
