This new Ryobi One+ HP 18V Brushless Recip Saw is a drastic improvement over their last recip. The 1-1/4" stroke and power from the brushless motor rips through nail-embedded wood like a boss.

Just purchased the saw and battery combo 2 weeks ago...used it yesterday for 1x. Had gotten the one hand model but got rid of it due to under performance and hard to work with--osteoarthritis the reason. My main use was and will be cutting fallen limbs/branches from my Live Oak Trees. Polished one large limb off yesterday: 8.5 feet long, 5.5 feet wide due to branches/leaf off shoots, thickest diameter of limb was 4.5 inches. This saw made short work out of this said limb. Former bow saw and lopper days are over. BTW, used a 9" Diablo Pruner blade. What a great experience and we are going to have a lot more fun coming up!! Thanks for your video review STR!!!

Definitely should have tried a new metal blade when it popped out a second time, really curious if it's the blade or the tool considering it had no issues holding the blade while making the other cuts.

Update: removed stuck blade. Diagnosis: If you look inside where the blade goes and at the same time move the removal mechanism. You will see it pressing down on a little release lip on the saw holder. Problem is of course it doesn’t release. Ok now the fix: use a flat head screw drive to press it down instead. Make sure you try to move it in the same direction as the release mechanism was attempting to move it. This got it unstuck. Essentially the little removal action is very weak and it can’t push hard enough on the release lip inside. Once I got out it was fine putting the blade in and out but it is clear this removal mechanism is not well designed.

Why this is a big deal. You DO NOT need to take it apart when a blade is stuck.

Original post: Took me all of one use to get a blade stuck in it. Other than it worked fine. Now I just have to figure out how to get the blade unstuck!

Should have put a new blade in after it popped out the first or second time and retested with a brand new blade to see if the problem was with the tool or the blade.

Also, would have like to seen it actually compared to the previous model to see the performance difference.

I have the older brushless and never had that blade release problem.

My ryobi brushless reciprocating saw kept doing the same thing after cutting alot of nail embedded wood frustrated I took a flash light to it, had a chunk or what looked like a metal shaving inside the slit for the blade picked it out and presto it was good

I have the older blue version of the ryobi reciprocating saw and it from time to time lets go of the blade and the only time it has been doing it is on metal materials. So apparently they have not improved the blade clamp.

None of the hp tools have a 3rd terminal. It's the 2 extra terminals on the bottom side of the battery housing on the tool. So that recipe saw will take advantage of the hp battery cuz it has the extra 2 terminals. The new impact driver pblid02 however does not have the extra 2 terminals and does not require the hp batteries. Some do some dont

does the saw still work? Do you like this one better than gen 2 Milwaukee one. Which would you suggest, do you think these hp tools will hold up,

9:58 that's smoke coming out of the tool. Not a hater or anything, in fact I'm just waiting for my own to arrive, but that's a bit troubling. I've seen other videos of people reporting this particular model to smoke after normal use. Did that give you any trouble later on?

i thought there would be some kind of problem with this saw when i went on ryobi's website it said this thing has 3200 strokes per minute and diablo carbide blades say max 3100 strokes per minute

Seemed like an awful lot of downward pressure caused the blade to come off. I noticed when you held your hand under the front it was fine, but when you went with heavy top down pressure it popped off.
