Ten years ago, the BMW 3 Series was the best-seller in the medium over $60K category (VFACTS, May 2013). In fact, the 3 Series is often praised for pioneering the compact sports sedan and has proved – for the most part – untouchable in terms of driving dynamics.

Fast forward to 2023, we see the almost 50-year-old nameplate has been trounced by a Silicon Valley disruptor in the form of the Tesla Model 3. Following the i7 and recently announced i5, BMW will almost certainly have an answer to Elon Musk's electric progeny soon. For now though, BMW has treated the G20 3 Series to its mid-life facelift, incorporating some of the tech from its latest generation of electric vehicles.

Until the 335i arrived with the E90 generation, the 330i was the top of the tree, excluding M3. Now it sits in the middle , between the 320i and M340i xDrive, with a plug-in hybrid option also available in the $101,950 330e. Test drove the LCI 330i when I service my car recently (pre LCI) and found the car to be slightly more hesitant in terms of power delivery which I guess is true as your first video you did about the pre LCI model doing 0-100 in 5.5 sec. Maybe BMW have tuned it to focus a little more on comfort for the LCI as it is more linear and suspension is also a little softer compared to mine.

Nice review as per usual guys. How do you think the Genesis G70 3.3T stacks up against the 330i?

Wow very nice car and quick. But according to the BMW website this thing starts at 103k and the M340i xdrive starts 115k. You'd fine the money for that B58 surely. Remember the days when you could get a VFII Redline manual driveaway under 60k. 😢

How come you didn’t have the delay start at the start? Whenever I floor it the car slowly accelerates

Hey mate, been watching you for a while, one thing I've always wished for is some kind of fuel consumption / highway revs at 100/110km as well as highway decibel reading... segment.... if you have the space and patience 😅

Otherwise, keep up the good work!
