Vitamin storage. Marine collagen powder and bone broth powder. Sun screen. Life extension and protection against the elements out there in the wasteland. This is a topic which complements food.

If I could only choose one kind of preparedness food for the apocalypse, that food would be wheat grain. The grain can be sprouted as a vitamin-rich alternative to fresh vegetables and eaten raw or cooked, the grain can be cooked whole and eaten like brown rice, the grain can be ground into whole wheat flour and used to make flatbread or tortillas cooked in a skillet on a propane stove or it can be made into bulgur wheat. And bulgur wheat can be made into survival crackers/biscuits (the one food stocked in U.S. public fallout shelters in the 1950s and 1960s) which can store for a very long time packaged in Mylar with oxygen absorbers. You could survive a long time on just the bulgur survival crackers and clean drinking water -- you would not be happy with this food but it would keep you alive and healthy.

My second choice would be freeze-dried, boneless, sirloin steaks accompanied by a bottle of Tabasco sauce and a jar of ghee. The inner carnivore would be a lot happier living on rehydrated, grilled, freeze-dried beef slathered in butter and hot sauce than subsisting on a steady diet of survival crackers.

I don't hear prepper's talking about #10 cans of freeze-dried food anymore. Could you make a video on this option one day?

I bought several cases around 10 years ago (everything from sausage, ham, chicken, a variety of fruits & vegetables, eggs, etc.) because I want the option to make homemade meals. The downside is the contents have to be used soon after opening, but as long as my solar generator is working I can put the unused portion in the freezer.

I also have MREs and totes full of prepackaged food, and I like having multiple brands just in case.

Great comparison of the options including durability, shelf life but also factoring long-term value and bartering. MSM and govt are doing a job covering food shortages that have already begun. One thing many don't realize is that for every DAY the food supply chain is down it will take a WEEK to rebuild. Down 90 days, you have 3 months supply.. Safe right? Think again, 90 weeks = over 20 MONTHS before supply chain is restored. The caloric content is vital when it comes to rationing to extend availability.

So...you need several cases of MRE's to get to your bugout location, and a stash of freeze dried foods for the duration of the apocalypse!

Sooo happy I used the government hush money to buy a freeze dryer to help process my garden for long term storage. Love canning but with the jar shortage I made an executive decision and bought the FD.

Rodents are always a potential problem and to be considered when storing food anywhere in the world.

Can you please tell me what is that green hooded cape coat you are wearing at the beginning of the video, and is it for sun protection, and where did you get it from?

Mountain House is the best long term food. Light weight, nutritional.

Do you still use your harvest right freeze dryer? I recently received mine and have been loving it. I was hoping you could do another video on yours if you still used it. I know you've been extremely busy so it"s hard to have the time to prepare food but at the same time its so much less time consuming than any other way of preserving hahaha.

Thanks for another video man. Things seem to just keep accelerating and it's always nice to hear what you have to say in regards to preparing or the current scenarios happening in the world.

The downside to freeze dried food is it requires water to reconstitute it And the downside to MRE First the cost is quite a bit for what you get plus I think they take up a lot of space

Aren’t MRE’s a little heavy on salt content?
