I'm originally from the USA but I live in Morocco. The bag was worth about 150 dh. The guy selling the lamp looked so sad when you said you couldn't go over 80. If it were me, I would just give him 200 just to help him out .

The price they give will not make them rich, they sell 3 to 5 pieces per day, they have families, the cost of living in Marrakech is just too crazy.just think about it when you buy a tiny piece of Ray-Ban sunglasses for 300 dollars without complaining that much.

Honestly you kinda did the guy bad with the price you gave him for the lamp. most of them are really poor and only sell a few pieces a day to support themselves. He really did give it to you as a gift cuz I'm Moroccan myself and I'm 100% sure I wouldn't have gotten it from him for that price.

simple question do you think a foreign brand would accept 10 or 20 $ as a margin on a handcrafted product ?
Artisanal goods are handcrafted and the people who made it put a lot of effort into making it. If the competition wasn't that fierce in the market no one would accept your prices... anw good bargain skills buddy ;)

No need to be that stingy, these people are just relying on tourists to support their families. I don't even go that far bargaining even If I'm a local.

I was in Marrakesh last week and I believe in paying a bit more since I came over from UK. If the stall holder makes a bit extra profit then that is fine with me. I try and pay what I am happy with even if that is more than what I could bargain down to on price.

i wish you weren’t soo stingy with some of the sellers they actually gave you really good prices like 250 for the Djellaba

People don't have problem buying a lacoste bag that costs 200 dollars that is made of plastic and complain that a handmaid bag made from genuine leather costs 50 dollars 🤨🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
I had the same reaction when he said he'll give 4 dollars for the handmaid brass lamp : Are you f^;%ng CRAZY, go shop in the plastic market go go

I have a Moroccan friend who tells me how much they struggle to make just a few bucks, so I would feel guilty negotiating a price lol but good job haha I admire you

No bro, trust me. U got these items for an extraordinary price, idk how these sellers accepted to sell this stuff to u for that price. It's insane!
I'm Moroccan and I know the prices very well, and I kinda feel sad for the sellers.
