What’s the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans movie about?
In the Middle Ages, Lycans (werewolves) are the vampires’ slaves. Lucian (Michael Sheen from The Deal and Twilight), the first of the Lycans able to take human form, and Sonja (Jázmin Dammak), the daughter of Viktor (Bill Nighy from Love Actually and Pirates of the Caribbean), the leader of the vampires, are secretly in love with each other. One night, Sonja leads guards and kills the Lycans who are behind the walls of the vampire city. Sonja goes with warriors into the forest to protect a human baron but finds herself fighting a battle against the Lycans. Lucian predicts that they will outnumber her and joins her and transforms to save Sonja. Lucian and the captive Lycans devise a plan to free themselves. Lucian destroys the Guardian that was threatening him, Sonja makes a deal with Viktor's lieutenant in exchange for her place on the Vampire Council. Sonja helps the Lycans escape and Viktor discovers that Sonja helped the Lycans escape. When Lucian returns to the fortress to take Sonja with him, father and daughter clash violently, and Viktor is ready to kill her when she tells him she is pregnant. Lucian survives the whip once again and sees Sonja die before his eyes, exposed to the light of day which reduces her to ashes. Lucian turns into a werewolf and tries to kill Viktor, he calls the other Lycans and war breaks out. Lucian confronts Viktor and kills him, the vampires are defeated. The Lycans congratulate him, but Lucian announces that this is just the beginning. In the end, we see Viktor on a boat still alive. This is the beginning of war without mercy...

I actually like that they showed Viktor's reaction to his own decision. Shows the power intolerance and anger can have over love, and the love he felt for his daughter was not enough for him to move on from his disdain of werewolves

I just realized that in that scene, the torturer took one lash too long to obey Viktor. He should have seen then and there that his dominance was slipping. Discipline of the troops falls to their commander.
