Actually There is one really strong tossing Item: Iron thorn (Or was it Silver thorn? idk, I'm unfamiliar with the English Item names.)
It cannot be caught by enemies and pierces all enemies in a straight line. There is a lot of occaisons were this can be really useful.
There are also a lot of wands that can be useful. Things like the surround wand to bully stronger Pokemon and the warp wand.

Deluxe Rewards for Friend Rescues also seem to give you vitamins every time, which can help max out your IV's. In the original version of the game, you could max every stat at 255. Not sure if they've changed that with the remake, though?
