How to recruit Kecleon in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX (Tutorial)

Im not sure of the exact workings of Kecleon, but this strategy worked for me.
Howling Forest seems to have a really high chance for Kecleon shops, thats why i did it there.

Pokemon ability: Friendly

Items I used:
- X-Ray Specs to find the shop
- Friend Bow (solar cave 20th floor)
- Escape Orb
- Evasion Orb
- Inviting Orb
- Power Up Orb
- Empowerment Seed

Kecleon takes 270 damage and still survives that, then when he wants to join, it says he only has 111 hp, that is rigged lol

I freaked the FCK out when I first got chased by him, admittedly I just accidentally walked out of his area and that’s when I learned never to mess with him again.

Couple of tips I found made this easier. Use any pokemon with friendly and give them the mobile scarf. Before you start the fight have them stand in the wall and change the tactic to wait. That way if you die you can just use an escape orb and keep all of your items. I did it with a level 57 altaria and friendly primape.
