Tom's are fine if you already have good sturdy "tough" feet, if you don't you will suffer terribly. You could get a pair of 5 dollar shoes from Walmart and have the same level of comfort, but not the same level of feeling good for buying them. I tried to just walk around the block in Tom's on concrete and my feet were in agony. The low top Feiyues are usually cheaper and better, but, once again no "feel good about it" vibes - so if you have good strong feet that can walk all day on concrete anyway barefoot, spring for the Tom's. You're basically just feeling good about providing the free pair for someone who has no shoes at all. Oh and they would be fine for inside shoes that you just wear around the house, that's what I mainly do with my Feiyues now, and when I did wear them for M.A. I had gel insoles with some arch support in them, nice ones or I would have been in agony on hard surfaces. SOME Toms might accept additional insoles to improve the comfort and support but some look like it would be a real difficult fit.
