Old video, but thanks for the tip, just got my D700, was struggling with getting live view working, even with the dial selected on the top it wasn't working.
One question, when in live view, as soon as I try to get focus by half pressing the shutter, the live view goes off until I either release the shutter button or take the picture, is this a setting issue or is this just how the camera is?
It's a little annoying if you want to use live view for focusing.

Scott, can you explain the value of using Live View, especially when it comes to HDR? I saw in a post somewhere that Brian Matiash also using Live View, and I'd love to hear an explanation for it. Thanks!!!

If you shoot continuous in live view, will it show every frame?

Must sound new to those who never use the Preview button or the Function buttons on the front of the camera. For those who use these buttons would have known for a long time!
