AG says president legitimately in office until next one is elected

Attorney General Professor Githu Muigai has clarified that there is no provision in Kenyan law for a caretaker government or transitional president. The AG says president Uhuru Kenyatta shall remain in office and will enjoy all the trappings of executive power save for specifically prohibited actions such as appointing or dismissing state officers until a president is elected and sworn in. Githu was reacting to the ongoing debate on the position of president Kenyatta after his election was nullified. He also said that even after 60 days there shall not be a constitutional crisis in the country incase the election does not happen.
