Music (that's without lyrics) is like body language. It speaks and is understood universally without words. This is a great example.

Superhuman multitasking.

Simultaneously:
reading the score,
keeping an eye on the conductor,
listening to the other musicians and blending properly,
being aware of one's own pitch,
remembering the conductor's notes from rehearsals.

Okay, I just cried. The whole piece is exhilarating but that ending.... the funeral march, then the eulogy in the woodwinds rising to heavenly song and then those sharp arrhythmic chords. This is not a poem, it is an epic.

I know the main love theme is amazing in this piece. However, am I the only one that is completely in love with the entire introduction of this work? Tchaikovsky's use of counterpoint and dissonance is seamless. I would argue that his biggest flex in this entire work his ability to manipulate the voicings in different ways to resolve to the same E minor a couple of times. 3:08 - 3:50. SO AMAZING geez
