Full highlights from USA's game against Nigeria in the Men's Preliminary Round Group A from the Basketball Arena during the London 2012 Olympic Games on 3 August 2012. The game saw the USA team set a new Olympic record for most points scored in a game, as well as setting a new American record by making 29 three-point shots.

Basketball made its appearance at the Olympic Games in 1904 in St Louis as a demonstration sport, as the competition was held between only American teams and counted as an event of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU of the USA) Championships.
At the Games in 1936 in Berlin, basketball joined the Olympic programme, where it has remained to this day. Women's basketball debuted at the 1976 Games in Montreal. =========================================

Nigeria Coach - "Cmon guys, keep the formation going, we worked on this yesterday! Stay in the game and keep pushing!"

USA Coach - "Aight where we eatin' after?"

This happened when I was in high school and I remember watching this game over and over. Even now, every now and then I come back to watch it. Super nostalgic. Every one of these players is in a different place now; some won multiple championships, some haven't won championships, some are hated, some are retired, and Kobe has passed away. Yet I'll never forget how proud I was to say that this was our team. These guys gave me a lot of great memories and I'll never forget it.

I keep seeing comments about how this is unfair and that the USA should use college kids instead. But this goes against the whole point of the olympics. Both teams dedicated their life and put in hundreds and hundreds of hours to get reach that skill level. In the end, USA is just the best at basketball...simple as that.

I feel so bad for the Nigerian coach. In the lockerroom at half-time, "I'm sorry guys, I got nothin."

During timeouts, Mike Krzyewski is like "I called this timeout to talk about where we want to go for dinner... And just keeping shooting."

If you doubled Nigeria’s score they still would’ve lost by 10

And what's amazing is that this Nigerian team isn't exactly made up of scrubs either. Two of their starting five are NBA-caliber players and the majority of them play professionally in Europe. These guys would probably dominate a top-tier American college team, so that just puts into context just how ridiculously good Team USA is.

If you multiply Nigeria's score by 2, the score was 146-156 so it was only a 10 point victory. Closer than you might think
