You dont need to buy crazy expensive cables but cheap guitar cables are definitely not worth it. Do a comparison test and you'll hear the difference.

I soldered almost all of them myself. If there are problems, it's my fault

"Really expensive cables" as in exotic audiophile power cables of 800$ per meter or something don't make any sense at all. But I like to spend a little extra on audio cables that are nice and flexible, last a long time and have good plugs. But they're not *that* expensive.

One thing to consider, when mixing different kinds of metal in plugs and connectors, is that they may interact with one another on an electron level and cause corrosion. It's called galvanic corrosion. Gold will obviously not corrode, and that's a good reason to chose it, but make sure that a gold-plated plug doesn't cause long-term problems for the connector. (I don't know enough of chemistry to say whether this is a factor or not.)

While silver is one of the best conductors it corrodes easily, gold doesn’t have this problem. That said I use good cables not expensive cables.

I’m still running Digidesign D-sub to XLR snakes in my studio and they’ve been working great for 14 year old snakes. Everything else is Canare or Mogami. Cheers

Cheap TT cables? Is there such a thing?

Buy one or a few. Look at and feel the quality. Test the high end with you ears, or a scope if you feel you're ears aren't up to the task at the moment. Beware of snake oil. As with many things, you generally get what you pay for. Some would suggest there's a price point beyond which there are diminishing returns. YMMV.

Here's the thing... Expensive cables don't make any difference whatsoever for the most part. Except they may be made of better quality materials & be more durable.
On the other hand, I've bought dirt cheap RCA cable for my stereo that turned out to be not so great. But turned out they weren't made or shielded properly, which is why I had problems with them.
I've even bought instrument (guitar/bass) cable that other people gave negative reviews for, only to find some people actually lied in their reviews. For example, someone said a guitar cable was really thin & just felt "cheap" but I have the exact same one & it's the same the thickness as some of the more expensive guitar cables I still have from 20 years ago that cost more, because I used to fall for the false advertisements or claims about cables myself.
Same thing with speaker cable. If you buy $30, 000+ speaker cable, you're just wasting money...& you obviously have too much money, & a POS.
Sorry for the rant. 😂😂😂😂
But am I wrong???
