People who live in places where leaving someone else's home isn't a low-stakes hostage negotiation must have so much more free time

If you walk someone out to their car as they're leaving and initiate another conversation, you might be from the Midwest.

I grew up in Wisconsin and this is accurate af. I remember us kids would fall asleep waiting for the adults to figure out how to leave.

I live in the Midwest and the Midwest goodbye is 100% real and not exaggerated. I got a ride home once from a coworker. I went to school with her son and she was an awesome lady. She sat in my drive way and talked for almost 4 hours while it was super cold and snowing super heavy. I probably said, "well, I'm going to go inside. See you at work tomorrow" 20-30 times

Midwest etiquette decrees that you deny the request of taking left-overs at least 3 times before accepting said gift of left-overs. Unless it's a hotdish.

Today I talked to an IT person from Minnesota at my work, and we bonded over the accuracy of your videos. We then proceeded to talk for an extra 45 minutes after we were done with my technical issue and after hanging up I realized that was a Midwest goodbye.

as someone from the midwest: i’ve genuinely watched this happen before. i ended up sitting in their living room for 7 hours while my dad and this random guy started doing his siding for some reason. wisconsin is weird.

This is the most accurate thing ever. It was impossible to get out of my grandparents' house without hearing hours of stories, being stuffed to the gills with hot dish, and carrying Tupperwares full of delicious food and snacks. Minnesotans are the most aggressively hospitable people on the planet. Miss you much, Grandma Ruth and Grandpa Art.

Lol “I slapped my knee, I says welp I s’pose, and he just kept offering me beers!” 🤣😂 That’s pure gold.

I’m quickly learning from your videos that the Midwest seems to embody the phrase: “Kill em’ with kindness”

I never thought of it as a midwest goodbye, I just called it the Italian goodbye. Dad's side of the family is extensive and saying goodbye is a strategic process. You gradually work your way towards the exit while finishing up conversation and gathering up leftovers.😊😊

We need a Midwest goodbye vs a Southern goodbye face off

Living in the Midwest my whole life, you don’t know how many times we stayed for 2 hours after saying goodbye.

This whole thing is legit! The Midwest Goodbye, etc. but the "low tire" . . . My dad, a former farmer, still does that to this day and I confess as a Farm Girl I've helpfully looked at other people's tires myself. . . LOL

My aunt hid in her hedges for ten minutes because her neighbor came outside while she was checking the mail and didn't want to sucked into an hours long conversation with her.

As a Wisconsin 911 operator I've 100% asked callers if they're "in a safe place 'er no."

This is one of my all time favourite videos, I swear. I’m not even from the Midwest, or America lol but it’s comedy gold. This whole channel is, but this one is special.

I have a friend like this. Its seriously impossible to leave his house and hes such a kind guy. The last part made me think of him. He’s the guy who calls you when your on the way to a group setting and helps you find a parking spot lol.

Living in the Midwest is actually amazing. Especially as a little kid when your neighbors family would come over and they’d go through all the motions leaving us kids with more time to play.
