I am 9. I started to code when I was 7. I was learning HTML and CSS with codecademy and w3schools. It took me 2 years (mostly because in the middle I wanted to be a chemist) to fully understand the language. And no, even a grown adult can't learn HTML in a day. The closest I got to learning the basics of a language in a day was with Java.

You said, "Java", not, "Javascript", and there is a HUGE difference between those two.

You are hosting a TechShow and you do not know that Javascript is far from java.

Last night I wrote a perl code to automate a molecular dynamics engine. It was very hard to figure out how to make it. But it's just a for loop with system calls. It's crazy how many perl books out there don't mention the built-in system function. I only knew it from looking through another scientist's code.

Manoush Zomorodi, host of WNYC's New Tech City, wanted to confront her fear of coding. Watch to see how she does!

When you come to the comments and see so many people point out java vs javascript why do you feel the need to add your own 😂😂😂 its already been said come on man ... if u tried to learn to paint and leonardo da vinci was like haha you said watercolour instead of acrylic ... okay ?? Its already daunting to make your starting journey into something new, public ... be kind ffs.

Yea you can learn how to code in the day. The most of the basic shit like saying "Hello world".

many people have different definition for the word myself. sorry, but you haven't done it yourself. When you have people around that you can ask questions is not yourself. Try to write your own code and make it work without any help, then you can say you did it by yourself. Good Luck

All it take is one day to get you hooked! Coding is awesome. It opens so many opportunities.

Maybe we copy/past, but we learn while doing it. I did both copy/past and make from scratch and I don't cry when I use someone else stuff. We then get grateful for those person and then give help after. I think Web Dev community is awesome, the open source minding give opportunity to make awesome stuff without to pay. Then we do better, share it; people copy it and make better. There is multiple type of developper, backend need more maths and logic, and front-end are just creative persons. I navigate on both, because it's possible and I like to do maths Monday, menus and forms Tuesday, connecting both Wednesday and then do new stuff. And we're all stupid, we all learn everyday (I take 2h/day for tutorials). The one who says he know everything, stay away from him, he won't be able to move forward when his technology will crash.

Of course you can learn to code in a day. Just last weekend, I became a pro at coding on saturday and learned to be a doctor on sunday. Now I am making money and doing great. Also, I just built a bridge from San Diego to Hawaii that I am selling off to the highest bidder. Contact me with your offer! LMAO!

Oh my goodness, this woman has summed up the entire first 2 years of my CS degree in one video. One of extremely few females and getting frustrated with what seems like teach yourself coding through google 101 instead of intro to Java/C#/C++ whilst my male peers are all super pumped around me and totally"getting it" I mean I know I'm not stupid, but what is it about that kind of environment that just sucks all understanding out of you? so I've just decided to say screw it and am trying to develop side projects on my own. It's the same level of confusion anyway but at least its at my own pace/without coding geniuses sitting around me

Thank you so much for this video. Despite the dispicaple comments, this is truly inspiring.

You can learn any language in one day, but knowing the language and then using the language there is huge gap. 1)You know how coding is done 2)The brain understands the code 3)Then you start to develop codes .
Our mind actually maps those code ...so 1st mapping is done here the memory part of the brain is taken in consideration, so people with good memory will have faster mapping, but this means someone is smart its just his memory system is good . Now if someone has good intelligence but poor memory then its for sure his brain mapping those codes will time not that his fool, but his mapping takes lot of time .

Just do it Lawnmower Man style: find loads of videos of C#, C and assembly tutorials and play them super fast through a VR headset for 24 hours straight. There is a 99% chance you will go catatonic but the 1% you will become superconscious and be able to download yourself into the net and become a god. The choice is yours.
