The Fertile Crescent: Gender, Art, and Society

Contemporary female artists from the Middle East challenge Western stereotypes and tell gripping narratives of their lives in a part of the world that remains veiled to many. From August 2012 through January 2013, Rutgers and Princeton universities are sponsoring a wide-ranging program of exhibitions, performances, lectures, and films designed to showcase the cutting edge of art from "The Fertile Crescent." Producer Susan Wallner talks to artists Zeina Barakeh (Palestine-Lebanon), Fatimah Tuggar (Nigeria), Parastou Forouhar (Iran), and Sigalit Landau (Jerusalem), as well as curators Judith Brodsky and Ferris Olin.
