The imagery here is amazing. It shows that mental illnesses cannot go away just because you decided you don't need them anymore. The imagery of Madeline being thrown down under and falling deep in a pool of water is normally how people describe depression (and even stated by Madeline herself once). Just great.

That scene when badeline got out of her textbox and screams scared me

not realistic enough, she should have exploded into 8 orbs immediately after touching the purple crystal spikes and then respawn right at the beginning of the fall...

This genuinely kinda made my heart race the first time. Like I was experiencing what Madeline was.

The music in this scene gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. The way it slowly builds and becomes louder is SOOOO GOOD!!

Madeline: Uh, I'm ok! The *spikes* broke my fall...

I like how Madeline comes to the wrong conclusion here, thinking she just learned a good life lesson, only for Badeline to just lash out at her. It's easy to think that you need to push away or ignore your depression and anxieties, like it's some unneeded cancerous growth that needs to be cut out. A lot of people will come to that same conclusion and think they've got it figured out, but it turns out that it really isn't that simple. You can't simply cut away and leave behind something that's still a huge part of you, and it's unhealthy to think that part of you is nothing but dangerous and force it away because it will always just push back even harder and lash out even more.

I love the detail in the conversation, when Badeline says 'You can't climb this mountain' instead of 'You wont climb this mountain'
She is not an enemy trying to stop you out of cruelty, but the negative part of yourself that thinks you're not capable of doing anything

What we learn from this is that badeline doesn’t like the fourth wall

This is...a really creative way to show hitting a snag when dealing with anxiety/depression. Or anything in life, really. We think we’re going along just fine, and suddenly, WHAM! There are ups and downs...and waaaay downs. It takes a while to get back up, and you don’t notice you’re doing it, because it feels so bad.

This is painfully relatable. I couldn’t help thinking of similar experiences I’ve had where after something leaves me feeling particularly happy and hopeful I end up thinking I can just let my issues go and watch them fly away like balloons. Only for those issues to suddenly get so much worse and drag me down to a low I didn’t think I could reach. I don’t have the same issues Madeline has but damn it’s still such a powerful portrayal of mental/emotional turmoil as a whole.

The theme here, Starjump, is one of the best in the game. It has such a great buildup and twist, it's amazing

My first time playing Chapter 6, I remember looking at the map and thinking "so why is the camera framed to overlook a huge valley of crystals at the base of the mountain?"
OH.

Madeline, the house is on fire!
No Granny it's just the northern lights.

Scary how well they captured what negative self-talk is like. You really do become a monster in your own head

This part is so cool. It’s like Badeline is disobeying the game’s rules, like she wasn’t supposed to appear in the game.
