Was an amazing feeling getting this to work. I have a dell laptop running Ubuntu plugged into my TP Link via eth cable. - I then used a USB-to-Ethernet to connect to my Mac directly without a switch. I started ping on the Mac watched the responses - & then rebooted my Dell-Ubuntu--Router - the ping just resumed when the laptop came back up - Ran speed-test - its just as fast as when my Mac is plugged directly into the TP-Link - WOW. I almost want to say: I cant believe it's that easy. - I feel like this tutorial is going to be my "gateway" into the world of networking :)

I got a static IP and connected to a linux system using PPPoe (dial up) to host a website and from there I need to extend internet to other system which is already in the network via switch. Can I create router in linux system so that other systems in the network will get internet?

Could this work on a secondary router in a home system? If so would the same gateway address be used? Or would I need to establish static routes between the two routers?

Also I will say after tinkering with OpenWRT on my raspberry pi4, you made this incredibly easy :).

nice! but in 2020 what would be really be interesting is how to setup an IPv6+IPv4 router/gateway on a DS lite internet connection with only ONE dynamic IPv6 address, while using static IPv6+IPv4 (dhcp fixed ip)) on the LAN and a local DNS. everything using IPv6 primarily, IPv4 secondarily. since IPv6 is the present, IPv4 is the past. its really bad to hold on to it. we need solutions for the new/present trechnology, not the past.
