The MiB refers to Widmore as the wise man because back when the actual Locke teleported to Tunisia after moving The Island in time, Widmore talked to him and said that "war is coming" referring to The Island. However, because the MiB was able to take the form of Locke after he died, he was also able to somehow already know everything about Locke's life, memories and so on.

@Bobbylatope No, the "wise man" he is referring to is Charles Widmore. He is referencing their last meeting when Widmore told Locke a war was coming to the island.

I would think that all Locke has to do is lift one of the tripod legs and tip the sonic fence over, thus breaking the connection. Also, he could probably just fly up high enough as the smoke monster, and go over the fence. Apparently Richard is immune to the fence because in an episode where he went into the Dharma camp to talk to Horace about getting his two men back, Men that Sawyer killed, he got thru the fence.

How the hell does the pilons stop the MiB can't he just fly over them. At this point he could still turn into the smoke monster just not take the form of others.
