Typically I would send her to the Apple store for something like this as they'd replace the device for around half the cost of a new one, but since she got the aftermarket screen they'd probably reject giving her a replacement. If you have this issue without any parts replaced I would go directly to Apple and get this covered for free under the limited warranty. I suggested she restore or try updating the device but it's unlikely to help. CPU/GPU repairs are costly and are incredibly difficult to complete- they're paired to other chips like the Nand and e prom. Of course, this could be a sandwich board issue or the CPU may just need reballing.

“Turns pink and shuts off” is exactly how I am in social situations

Flashing red/pink/purple requires in almost all cases motherboard repairs/replacements.
The NAND chip is usually the culprit🤷‍♂️

I have had devices die on me but I always find it sad when a nearly brand new phone just dies.

As a car person I really appreciate the tool that lets you know what’s probably wrong with the phone kind of like an obd scanner for your car that’s really cool to see that we now have phone obd scanners

I’ve had this kind of issue before and unplugging stuff isn’t the way to check for the faulty component.
Certain iPhones would boot loop because a component plugged in is faulty,
Unplugging those components would still make the phone reboot because the phone requires those components to be plugged order not to reboot.
So you might just need to test it with another OEM housing.
I don’t think it is the case for purple screen though, but it works for 3 minutes reboot.
I hope this helps someone ❤

To note to people here.
Cheap aftermarket displays can damage your device overtime.
Always get genuine and/or certified displays.

I got an aftermarket screen with a giant chin for my iPhone 12 and the repair guy pretended to act confused like he didn’t notice the chin when I showed him 😢😢😢

Apple devices usually run a system(background) check every 190 seconds.
Since the 13 Series, if any important sensor are missing, it will reboot every 3 minutes or so in an attempt to correct the issue.
If it’s an hardware issue, disconnecting some cables will not help at all since it will detect the missing sensors and reboot anyway.

Best way to proceed would be to use any known working charging flex, power button flex, front sensor flexor wireless charging flex as they have sensor that are crucial for the system.

If that doesn’t work then it’s 100% motherboard issue .

try unplugging the front prox flex. this is usually caused by a bad prox flex and as you said it was water damaged + and aftermarket screen installed.

That device that you plug in works like that one car accessory that you plug in the obd port to diagnose the car.

If you unplug components without replacing them with new ones, the phone is gonna keep restarting as the phone does not detect the peripherals. Unplugging components to check what’s wrong does not work after the iPhone X

It’s quicker to just go into the phone settings and read the string of panic. It doesn’t tell you what it might be. The code string will tell you the exact part that needs to be replaced to fix it.

Panic log device was definitely breathing in the power because the battery was at 0

Pink screen is a kernel panic, no GPU damage
