Spirit R30 hull build

From ringframes to rollover. Watch the hull build of the Spirit R30 day sailor. Unlike other Spirits, the Spirit R30 is the first yacht to use flax and bio resin in her build, which is an exciting development in the continuing drive to lower the carbon footprint of all Spirit yachts.

The hull was constructed using Sipo Mahogany ringframes overlaid with Douglas fir planking, all from sustainably managed forests. Instead of a fibreglass external skin, flax material was bonded to the hull using a new bio-based epoxy by PRO-SET®. The hull was then rolled over ready for internal fit out.

lol you look at the opening of this video.. at the shop floor and work benches. The skeleton of a boat, laying there. You would never think that this is the cathedral of the world renowned modern wooden sailboat builder.
