Software Spotlight:
Alien is a program that converts between the rpm, dpkg, stampede slp, and slackware tgz file formats. If you want to use a package from another distribution than the one you have installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your preferred package format and install it.

Tips & Tricks:
Use the nohup command to ssh into a server run a command and be able to let that command continue to run while you get to logout and move onto something else.

nohup basically is a command to ignore the hangup signal.

To use it just login to an SSH session and type $ nohup (your command) and an &

Then feel free to exit out of the SSH session and come back later.

Plasma crashes on me 10 times as much as any other DE. I've tried it on multiple computers, using multiple distros. I like it otherwise, but I'm surprised they have had such different experiences than they have.

Have paid for it (Zorin 14.x), like I have donated to others. But I am still using a self made hybrid of Mint Mate 18.3 on my main computer. (enterprise environment).... Long live Mint and Mate philosophy !

Good show, but Pop! OS is Ubuntu with a theme and without a very useful Ubuntu add -on, the dock on the left. I want to be able to start by favorite apps with one click. I adore Ubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, Xubuntu and Peppermint.

I find it interesting... Plasma always looks awesome when other people use it, but I can't stand it. I have tried it about twice a year, and there is SOMETHING, and I can't put my finger on it, that bugs me to the point I can't use it. If I have to go Qt, I would have to go LXqt, but I am definitely a GTK+ person. But even there are only three DE's I actually can stand: Xfce (definitely my favorite), Cinnamon (like Xfce but slow and bloated) and Gnome 3.
