Joshua Landis is an academic expert who focuses on the Middle East, with special emphasis on Syria. He also heads the Middle Eastern Studies department at the University of Oklahoma. Samer Shahata is an Associate Professor in Middle East Studies in the Department of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma and has a special focus on Egyptian politics.
