With this piece, Mahler seeks to reconcile us with death by showing the immortality of the soul.
That there is no death as we are accustomed to think of it.
Our limited senses cheat us of the truth…
Our senses tell us that there are beginnings and endings.
Now we see it. Now, it’s gone.
This is an error.
It is essentially Christ’s message…there IS no death .
This what He meant by believe in me a you shall have eternal life.
