"The virus does not discriminate." - It's a line many have used to describe the fact that anyone can catch COVID-19. But when it comes to human behaviour, discrimination has reigned supreme in this pandemic. Around the world, various groups have been maligned and accused of spreading the virus.
The coronavirus pandemic has even led to racist attacks against various minorities around the world. From Asians in Europe to Muslims in India and black people in the United States - fear over the pandemic is giving a boost to xenophobia and exclusion. Some say incendiary rhetoric from leaders is to blame for the behavior.

You are blatantly mistaking criticism of the CCP with criticism of the Chinese ethnicity...

EVERYONE worldwide is suffering. The virus is not racially discriminating, it is not self aware. Equality for ALL.

From Tokyo. I had plan to go to Dresden for Dresden music festival in May and June, but a daughter of a friend of mine is learning in Berlin, and her friend from Taiwan was teased in S-bahn, so I gave up that plan. Anyway, Dresden music festival was cancelled after that. I wish someday to go to Dresden, Byreuth, Berlin etc.  When will it be ?

It is all the same, bigotry and racism in ALL countries. When will "people" (subhumans to me) ever learn to treat other human beings with respect and dignity?

I like how people are against racism toward Chinese but turn the other way when the Chinese are racists towards others.

As a Korean adoptee growing up in the 70's and 80', racism and discimination has been a part of life as long as I can remember. Even in what are considered the most "liberal" countries in the world. Also in my birth country, where I lived and worked for a decade or so.
Mainstream media, tv personalities and shows, movies, politicians, educational institutes, commercials, etc. have all, maybe unknowingly maybe not, been contributing to this.
Nothing new and with every recession or crisis it intensifies. Luckily most people I encountered were normal, nice people.
But the last decade or so even with more economic prosperity it started to be the new normal. Just look at the rise of populism around the continent and the world for that matter.
This time fueled by a growing economic inequality and especially here in Europe, countries and corporations more and more embracing the american economic business and political model and people feeling more detached from their elected officials and national identity.
Rising costs of living but wages frozen for almost a decade, while corporations made huge profits and politicians filling their pockets, squandering tax payers' money and stumbling over each other arguing about futile issues. While nothing really happened concerning fundamental problems in society and the environment.
On top of that the excessive increase of corruption, erosion of our global institutes, rapid destruction of the global environment and super fast technological development has made the world today not a better and safer place for most of the world population.
