I was bashed for criticizing the expensiveness of Whole Foods before but I stand by what I said. I don’t even have a budget but I’m not going to waste money either.

I agree with Jess. I can't see paying outrageous prices on common items I can get at Aldi or Walmart for far less money. I think some people are just snobs and think that Whole Foods paper bag makes you look smart, or rich or trendy. I think it makes you look irresponsible and just a little bit stupid :)

Don't ever buy any seedlings that are setting flowers. That means they're old and won't grow much more. Always buy them when they're shorter, greener, and free from blooms.

Whole Foods is for special foods that we can't find anywhere else--or maybe a treat because their bakery items are great, but not an every week stop

I totally agree with you guys!! I have never been in a Whole Foods because I've seen enough videos to see the prices and I don't even have to set foot in the store to know that I wouldn't buy anything from there.

I quit even walking into Whole Foods many years ago. They had a few things that were different, but now you can get the items other places, and for less. Thanks for the honesty, always, folks!

The funniest thing I've seen at Whole Foods are the people who load up their carts with chips, soda, and middle aisle foods (which tend to be the most processed), convinced that somehow it must be healthier because it's in Whole Foods.

They've lost so much of what made them unique -- dropping a number of brands so that the 365 stuff has more space, for example -- and you can now find a lot of what they carry/used to carry at other stores for less. I'm surprised they get as much traffic as they do. Old habits, perhaps.

I found out 10 years ago at age 54 that I was always highly sensitive to gluten. But my doctors just told me all my problems were in my head. Yeah, thanks all knowing doctors. But when I discovered it. I quit all gluten and in a few days all 16 of my symptoms that I'd been complaining about for 30 some years all went away! Anyway 1 year later I became allergic to dairy also. So back then it was really hard to find products that were gluten free and dairy free in my town. And not to mention tasting good. So I have been on the lookout for the past decade, for products I can eat. So I shop anywhere that I can find to get new things to try. I have a small food budget. And I cook all our meals from scratch. Can't really eat out. As I can't trust what I'm getting is gluten free and dairy free and also not cross contaminated. So to find new things to make foods taste better and different is a great thing. Back 10 years ago. It seemed everything tasted the same. Now, a whole new world of tastes and foods for me to make have opened an epic flavorful journey of foods to me. So yes, whole foods is expensive, but to find a place that has choices I usually don't get. Is priceless.

We went to one in St Louis and my assessment was that the customers pay extra to not have to shop with the “lower class”.

As a caregiver my lady wants to shop at Whole Foods and I take her to the one at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.
The parking lot is certainly a car show, but I really felt uncomfortable inside the store for some reason. Not priced for me I guess! Oh well

I stand with Jess! I've been to Whole Foods 2x. The 1st was years ago. I walked in with an empty cart and out with an empty cart. The 2nd was about a yr. ago while out visiting my daughter. We were out and about late on lunch and hungry. I mentioned that I missed salad bars so we went to WF. 2 salads came to over $40.00!! I could have taken us to a nice restrauant for that.

Organic is not what most people think it is. I encourage everyone to research this. I've started cooking a lot more from scratch. Way cheaper, healthier and tastier. Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices.
