Iran launches missile attack on Israel

Iran fired a salvo of ballistic missiles at Israel last night in retaliation for Israel's campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the assault was in retaliation for recent Israeli killings of Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas's Ismail Haniyeh - whose groups are backed by Iran. The IRGC added that the missiles were in response to Israel's ongoing aggression in Lebanon and Gaza.

The IRGC said it used hypersonic Fattah missiles for the first time, and that 90 per cent of its missiles successfully hit their targets in Israel, most of which were military targets.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran's missile attack on Israel failed and vowed retaliation.

In response, Iran’s armed forces chief of staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri threatened to repeat Tehran’s attack against Israel and target its infrastructure.
