DeSci@ETHDenver | DAOs & Tech trees to Fund Nano, Bio, Neurotech
Показать описание
There are many areas in longevity, nanotechnology, brain computer interfaces, private computing, and space tech that could be accelerated.
Foresight Institute is a 35+year-strong 501c (3) non-profit to advance ambitious technologies that are too early-stage or interdisciplinary for legacy institutions to take on:
Decentralized Computing
Molecular Machines
Biotech & Health Extension
Neurotech
Spacetech
Foresight is exploring a DAO to fund progress in its core focus areas, e.g. by funding Foresight fellows and tech trees:
Led by domain experts, and ultimately open for crowd-sourcing, we're building trees for challenges in longevity, atomically precise manufacturing, brain computer interfaces, private ML, and asteroid mining. Long-term, these trees may integrate across domains, allowing different funders to chart desired paths through the tech forests.
See this Longevity tech tree prototype. It will soon contain nodes, existing projects, and fundable challenges. Similar trees are being built for other fields.
Our current plan is for researchers to submit challenges to make progress on their node. Entrepreneurs bid with project proposals. Domain-experts and funders decide what the DAO funds via reputation-weighed voting.
After briefly presenting the state of the art of the project, we want your input: Bring your knowledge on DAO models, prediction markets, reputation mechanisms, bounties, and apply them to crowdsourcing and funding early-stage ambitious science:
How can better projects rise to the top?
Which funding mechanisms are most effective at supporting them?
How can domain experts and funders be incentivized to contirbute their domain knowledge and capital?
This hackathon, with judges including Balaji Srinivasan, 1729, Evan Miyazono, Protocol Labs, Trent McConaghy, Ocean Protocol, is for building better tech trees. Submission deadline is March 1.
