A1 German course for beginners covers German nouns, gender of nouns, definite and indefinite articles in German Nominative case and other topics. Every noun in German language has a gender. Gender of noun in German can be masculine, feminine or neutral. There are 3 articles, 1 for each gender.
The masculine noun in German language has article "der"
The feminine noun in German language has article "die"
The neutral noun in German language has article "das"
It is important to know the gender of noun in German language, so that one can select the correct article of noun in German language.
There are two types of articles. Definite articles and Indefinite articles. Definite articles in German language are der, die and das.
Indefinite articles in German language are ein, eine and ein.
There are different ways to find out the gender of noun in German language. In A1 level of German language course, it is however recommended to memorize the article of noun, whenever you learn a new noun in german language.

Feminine words take the article "die" (the) or "eine" (a or an). Nouns ending in -heit, -keit, -tät, -ung, -schaft: die gesundheit, freiheit, schnelligkeit, universität, zeitung, freundschaft (health, freedom, quickness, university, newspaper, friendship)

If the word ends in -ität, it's feminine. If the word ends in -en in the singular and is not a gerund (verb), then it's masculine (der Knoten, der Knochen…). If the word's plural is formed by adding an umlaut and an -e, it's masculine (der Topf - die Töpfe)
