Learn German Lesson 9 - Sentence structure (Part 1) | Satzstruktur (Teil 1)​

Knowing how to form a basic sentence in a new language is very essential to learning a language in the right way. And in lesson 9 you will learn the sentence structure of simple and basic sentences.
You will learn how to form basic sentences and questions. The main things that will be covered in this lesson are:
• Correct placement of the verb in a sentence.
• What is a Subject?
• What are W-Questions?
• What are Yes-No-Questions?

A simple exercise at the end of the lesson will help you understand the structure easily.

• Wie geht es Ihnen? = How are you?
• Wie alt sind Sie? = How old are you?
• Wo wohnst du? = Where do you live?
• Was sind deine Hobbys? = What are your hobbies?
• Wie ist dein Familienname? = What is your surname?
• Ja/Nein - Fragen = Yes/No - questions
• Haben(Verb) Sie(Subject) Kinder?
• Sind(Verb) Sie(Subject) verheiratet?
• Wohnst(Verb) du(Subject) in München?
• Kommen Sie aus Deutschland? = Are you from Germany?
• Wohnen Sie in Indonesien? = Do you live in Indonesia?
• Spielen Sie Fußball? = Do you play football?
• Sprechen Sie Italienisch? = Do you speak Italien?
• Verstehen Sie mich? = Do you understand me?
• Sind Sie 30 Jahre alt? = Are you 30 years old?
• Haben Sie Zeit? = Do you have time?
• Bilde Sätze! = Make sentences!
• The subject conjugates the verb.
• The verb is mostly in the second position.
• Questions beginning with W-Words (Wo?, Woher? etc.) are W=Fragen, Here the verb is in the second place.
• Questions with answer "ja" or "nein" are Ja/Nein-Fragen. Here the verb is in the first place.
