ATTENTION! For people that want to buy this little toy, or for the ones that already have it, I experienced a fault with this unit after a little more of a month. Yesterday I was testing some caps and after a few tests, it got stuck in short, showing the resistor symbol, with INDUCTANCE text, and values of 0.1~0.3 ohm and 0.0uH between terminals 1 and 2.
I opened the device, took some few measurements and rapidly noticed that the relay was not opening in one of the sides. Since I didnt have a replacment like that, a just give it some "percusion assistance" (I tapped hard one the top of the relay) and it came back to life. It is a easy fix if you encounter that situation. In the next days, I will replace that relay with a OMRON one.

I bought it after watching this channel and some others that I follow.

Hope this helps!

I’m kind of done with fnirsi in general. All of their products seem nice from a glance but when you actually start using it, it’s almost always disappointing. Also I’ve had stuff from them die suddenly for no reason. I won’t buy this brand ever again.

It's $25 to $30 US depending on where you buy it. About all it does that the $10 ones don't do is the higher voltage Zeners. Since testing a Zener just involves a voltage, a resistor, and a multimeter, (And I've only needed to test Zeners about 3 times in the last 10 years, ) I decided I'd stick with my $10 tester that likely runs the same fundamental hardware and software, other than the Zener stuff.

Thanks for the review, that's a no-go for me.

I know there will always be more people against cheaper products. For myself, I have to buy what I can afford. This is nothing to do with my official job title as an Electrical Protection Senior Adviser. However, being the last person with limited electronic card repairs for 6 x 618MW coal fired power station, I try my utmost best to repair various electronic modules after hours and at my own cost. I have just received my LCR-P1 today, and withing 3 minutes after I opened 3 times 1A to 20mA current transducers from the 80's, I determined that 7 out of 9 16V and 20V zener diodes was faulty. With the op-amps operating above 36V, I did not even have to test them. Replaced the zeners and op-amps in a couple of minutes, and verified the transducer calibration. So yes, I know I can set up my PSU and a resistor connected to my multimeter to test the zeners. But, I only have two calibrated meters, which I would rather connect to the input and output of my test setup, and an al-cheapo for zener testing. A bigger shock might be that I am using the Fnirsi DSO-152 and a Fnirsi x100 probe for 240V switch mode power supply repairs on the +420V DC side. Totally isolated, 2kV rated probe ( handles 450V DC without any issues). No chance of blowing up my more expensive test equipment.

The older generic testers work way better then these new Fnirsi ones. I have both units, and from what I understand, the Finirsu uses a different way to read the components than the old generic ones.

You guys try to measure the S8050 NPN Transistor, mine has this error, do you know if it is a common error? To measure in the forward direction it shows 1-C, 2-B, 3-E, then reversing the transistor it still shows 1-C, 2-B, 3-E. But in fact, looking at the Datasheet, its standard is 1-E, 2-B, 3-C, I checked the installation into the circuit and the standard is as per the Datasheet. In summary my LCR P1 is not accurate.

I think I'll stick to my LCR-TC2, it does what it needs to, albeit this has a nicer housing but that's about it.

What is the manufacturer and part number for your bench meter clamp handles? They are what I have been looking for and need.

It tested the LCR-P1 and it is really bad. It seems similar to the TC1 component tester but it is no way near as good. It cannot recognize Schottky Diodes it thinks they are resistors. It can't recognize Thyristors, dual diodes in to220 packages. And the capacitance and ESR is also inaccurate. And it is much slower than my TC1. I emailed FNIRSI several times but they won't respond. Stay away from it.

Since there is a USB port that is used for firmware updates, is there any software that can be used with this tester? It might be nice if I could put measured values into a spreadsheet or text file, for example.

@TheDefpom Can you please try testing 20k and 50k Ohm resistors with this unit? I bought this same unit and I get errors of 19% and 8% respectively (using firmware 1.0.5) when compared to my Fluke and Peak component testers.

Hi, when my workshop was robbed years ago, I wanted to buy PEAK testers, when I saw the price for CZK, I sweated, I bought the original TC-1 and I am satisfied. TC-1 is not able to decode all remote control systems, the ones that it cannot read and display codes will at least be tested for transmission - a red dot will light up on the display.

Nice day 🙂 Tom

il firmware ha un problema nella lettura dei diodi, la polarità mostrata anche se inverti la direzione di lettura è sempre la stessa, questo può creare problemi ai neofili dell'elettronica, non è affidabile.

triac dont work due to too low testing current, check the manual, it says 5ma max...most of the triacs need >30ma

touching components will affect reading, Try using tweezers

It is basically the same instrument I paid $10 for from aliexpress, but in a nicer case with a surface mount adapter.
Calibration is done by starting it with 1, 2, & 3 shorted together and then separating them when it says.
I find my $10 version most useful for identifying unmarked, or mysteriously marked parts. I bought a batch of 20 JFETs from aliexpress. My version IDed them as BJTs and with that phot I got a refund.

Moistet mode is for liquid damaged parts 😉

MOISTET is not a known term in electronics, and it's likely a translation or typographical error in the instructions.

Safe to assume MOSFETs.

Can I test small MOSFETs that notebooks have in motherboards?
