Nôtre - Suite du 2e Ton - Metzler Organ, Poblet, Hauptwerk

Jean-Baptiste Nôtre was a French composer and organist. The Suite du deuxieme Ton is from a collection of Nôtre's pieces called 'Livres de piesses d’orgue par l’organiste de Toul', which contains eight suites, ordered by ton.

The parts of this suite are quite short. Therefore excellent to show some different colours of this Metzler organ of Poblet. I used mostly the typical French stops or stop combinations, but not always (within limits of course).

The way in which the various typical forms of the French suite are presented here in such a short space is truly astonishing. At the same time, I find the style quite independent compared to its contemporaries (this may be due to the fact that Toul is somewhat more peripheral). I also find two grand jeu movements in a suite rather special.
