The Xbox Development Kit (XDK) is a software development kit created by Microsoft used to write software for the Xbox gaming system. The XDK includes libraries, a compiler, and various tools used to create software for the Xbox. The XDK has the option to integrate itself into Microsoft Visual Studio 2002 or 2003. This is needed if one wants to develop applications or games for the Xbox. The XDK also includes a tool to record in-game footage, which has been widely used to create high-quality screenshots and trailers.

The XDK allows software creators to create, run and distribute applications on the Xbox platform. Xbox 360 XDK's were based on all three generations of the Xbox 360 Design ("Phat" "Slim" "E"), XNA Kits (Were used at some expos and given to game studios), Stress Kits (Used to test the power of the Xbox 360 and various conditions such as undervolting and overvolting and issued to Microsoft developers only), and Demo kits (Used to demo games) Some but not all XDK's include a sidecar which was used to emulate the DVD drive and act as a hard drive and on older XDK's with older recoverys, used for PIX Debugging. Bundled with XDK's is the Xbox 360 SDK used to connect to the console, enable memory editing, file management, and integrate to Visual Studio 2010 for Xbox 360 game development.

Appreciate the guide, everything worked out. Can i turn my xbox off while in dev mode or should i leave dev mode before doing so? Don’t want to lose anything.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Upon switching to dev mode after paying $19 I got stuck in an infinite loop of resets and error messages stating “something went wrong” Restarting would only bring me to the same screen, shutting off would restart. Aside from factory reset, the only option was offline update via USB. I downloaded the 6gb update file and loaded that onto Xbox, still the same error after getting 80% through the process. Only solution was to factory reset my Xbox and lose all my of my save game files. It also freed up 100+GB of data so I’m guessing all my footage is gone too. I had 20gb of free storage going into this. Was told I only needed 5, Im guessing I was misinformed. Be wary. I lost money and all my saved game files.

When I go to the website I only get shown insights not the developer programs or anything else any help you can give for that?

Do you need to be approved with Xbox to do this or can you simply make the files on your own and import it like so?

Dev mode does not work for me😢…gives an error message when I try to activate and there is no way to contact Microsoft for support or even a refund

when i enter the dev mode activate it shows the screen that you show but the shows a different screen showing work spaces. What shouuld I do?

They updated the website which makes this very confusing now. Can't look at programs and you need a company email which I don't have
