At least 5 shot at NYC's West Indian Day parade in 'intentional act,' police say

At least five people were shot at New York City's West Indian American Day Parade on Monday, according to the NYPD. There is no active shooter and the shooting appeared to be an "intentional act," NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said at a press conference. Police are looking for a suspect.

come people im from NYC all my life there are people shot at the west Indian Parade every year ! i would actually be shocked if there was a year when no one was shot ! its like you go to the Italian festivil there will be sausage and peppers at the west indian parde people being shot is just part of the parde !

My parade days over along time ago. Some people don’t know how to behave, and I got tired of running and hiding. I am fine with not being anywhere near Caribbean festivities.

I'm middle-aged. As far as I can remember, the West Indian day parade always has a shooting. This year, there was publicity that the organizers of the parade were trying to prevent violence. If you don't know, there are lots and lots of parades in NYC (eg, Irish, India day, etc.). Very, very few of them are violent.
