I ride the Chengdu Metro for the first time. I have to hand it to China, they did a great job here. It's very clean, modern and safe. Trains are very frequent - we didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes for a train to arrive. The staff is professional and gladly helped us when we needed assistance. There's plenty of escalators and elevators for those that need it. Exits are well marked and clear maps in every station. On top of all this, the fare is very affordable. This is a huge contrast to the NYC subway that I'm familiar with. No subtitles / commentary. Ep 52

Last time I've been to Chengdu was more than 10 years ago and they didn't have metro yet! Now most cities in China have more than 1 metro line, all being very modern (obviously) and many staff and security in the stations and trains. That's why many of my friends who are from China simply cannot tolerate the public transport in the US lol and that's even one of the reasons why they might not want to stay in the US (not to mention the high speed railway system in China). In the meantime there are debt crisis appearing in many cities because these metro systems are operating on a huge loss except in HongKong and Shenzhen, and many ongoing projects have been paused this year.
