Thanks Mr. Kevin Kennedy for all your tutorials, they are simply wonderful.

Thanks for your videos, they are the easiest to follow that I have found. I like how you clearly explain every single step and don't gloss over anything. I have a suggestion as I have been looking everywhere for a tutorial and havent been able to find one. I have a small part to 3d print, but I want to duplicate it say 20 times, and create a grid that holds them all together so it prints as one piece and you can snap out the individual pieces as needed. For a tutorial you could make a model in a single flat sheet that you snap out the individual pieces to assemble them. Maybe put pegs and holes on the parts so they press together. Just an idea for something that I think many people would find useful.

thanks for another great video. a question however. sheetmetal - what if you need a sketch for a manuafacturer where the manufacture will not be done by laser/computer but rather manual cuts and bends. forgive my ignorance but should there not be meassurements visible on the dxf file for this purpose? i cant seem to get clarity on this one

Is this only for 2D shapes that will be cut out from a sheet of material? Does it make sense to get a dxf file for a bowl?

what about exporting from the manufacture tab?

Another helpful tutorial which has made me wonder. Is there a way to export that keeps constraints? I have a few common sketches (such as a t-slot profile) that I use regularly and I've never figured out how to save just that sketch to a file.

I've been using this method for years, but it's time-consuming when you have many bodies you'd like to project. Do you know of any scripts that'll manage this for me?

You are amazing thank you so much. Autodesk's stupid cloud save wasn't working for me but the sketch way did!

It seems odd that we can't create layer's easily or am I missing something.

No need to project. If a face has all needed geometry you can make a new sketch on that face and save that sketch as a DXF.

Fusion 360 is great and terrible at the same time. Non native "Export Face As DXF" is a MAJOR oversight. I made the switch from Solidworks and some days I really regret it.

It's the GIMP to Photoshop. Such simple things are so easy to accomplish in PS, but to make it work in GIMP you need to download a script that works half the time.

There's a far better way to get a dxf for lasercutting. The free extension Dxf4laser lets you select a face and generate a dxf, with kerf adjustment (extra margin on the outside, holes marked a little bit smaller). It's been around for years and works well.

One thing to add, my laser cutter does not want to have the bend extents on the dxf file.
you have to flatten the part and make a new sketch of the flat pattern, and save that sketch as a dxf.

Oof, I was hoping the other 2 methods mentioned were recommended too. Otherwise the recommended workflow has been mine this whole time. Always looking to learn something new. 😩.
Great video otherwise.

There are things that fusion 360 make by the easy way, exporting is not one of that things hahahaha
