1 year ago, my Mother passed away

First off, thanks for all the responses, you strugglers rock. Things are much better and my relationship with my kids has vastly improved. It's amazing what getting out of a toxic environment will do for a kid. Can't get those years back so we can only make the best out of the time we have left.

Yesterday, my best best friend, who was closer than my brother, passed away. I introduced him to Breserk in the early years of our friendship and he fell inlove with it during the first episode. If it was one of the many things we bonded over. I can't even watch an episode now without breaking down. I love you Donavan Castillo, you were the greatest friend a person could ever ask for.

I know this song is often associated with sadness, but I find it quite uplifting. When I am facing darkness and all feels lost, I can put on this song and remember the strength of Guts when he faces his own struggles. Do not stray from the path my friends.

My best friend loved Berserk, took his life last July. Finished watching (and started catching up with the manga) in the months following while I grieved, this theme is going to kill me everytime I hear it.

It almost feels pointless to share my experiences in a comment section this large, but in a way it’s nice to express my life to a public place people may or may not see. I have not lost anyone or suffered greatly, but I’m not where I want to be. I am surrounded by family and friends, but always feeling alone. I’m living in a place that I don’t want to live after a failed attempt of going somewhere else. Somewhere where I might not feel alone anymore, maybe somewhere where I’ll find that piece I’m missing. Though I’m not sure if my heart will find peace or whatever you wanna call it there, I know I have hope that I’ll find it, just as I have hope in everyone who struggles, no matter the weight they bare. If you ever read this and wonder to yourself if it’s possible to find that light at the end of your tunnel, if it’s possible to be where YOU want to be, then understand that as long as you have the hope, the faith, and especially the will to search for it, you will find it. And if you think you’re lacking any of those three, you don’t, afterall it’s what makes us human.
