Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 1972 topspeed

Driving in Germany with my 1972 Giulia (1750 engine) at topspeed with VARLN BLR2017

I was passenger in 2008 Toyota Corolla 1.6 petrol and at 4000-5000 RPM, at highest gear (5th) it did just 140-150 km/h and still unstable on highway. It seems that Alfa perfected cars even 50 years ago.

my alfa gtv 2000 which we call the junior he in South Africa did a speed test and did 232 kmh. The motor was blue printed, everything balanced, head skimmed, cut off valve stem seals, 10, 2 race cam, 45 mm weber side draft, a power enhanced exhaust manifold, and a couple of extra tricks done. It could quiet easily rev to 8000, but I never did like taking it that high. 7000 was adequate.Because of tge power I put my berlina 2000 automatic differencial in which lengthens the top speed considerably. Funny thing though when I tested it we were 3 up, and I basically ran out of road at the point the test camera was set. I reckon it must have been good for 250, but I'll never know, I was 27 at the time and that is 31 years ago.
My God but that car was fast.

the top speed depends on the rear axle.
With a 10:43 RA my Giulia goes exact 200 km/h GPS with a 1750 engine
now I changed to a 9:41 RA, the acceleration is much better but the top speed is less
I usually don't drive so much on the highway, I like to have fun in the mountains and therefore the 9:41 is the better choice

Now the engine is a 2.1, based on a Alfetta engine

Always young: in 1962 they said it was forward of 10 years, then they said it was forward of 20 years, now we must say it was forward of 100 years, but I i doubt that in 2062 we'll see another car like Giulia: 200 km/h as a simple target, at economical sale price in '60 years.
