Swimming is actually better for the body… way less wear and tear on your joints and honestly burns more calories than jogging in the same hour

Swimming seems to be less painful than running. But running actually hurts because most people heel strike. Forefoot striking is my preferred way to run because it's more efficient and less painful.

IMO running I just enjoy it more because of when racing you have close finishes and i have always been a runner

I hear running burns slightly more calories but swimming demands more from the entire body instead of just the lower body. Cardio wise, both will help. Depends on your goals.

I swim because I want to be in creeks, rivers and not drown when I go man over board. I run because I like to run through forests and trails :)

Running is better because is healthier than swimming and I tell you why:
1) in running you use nose and mouth air intake that exercise and strength your lung muscles while swimming use diaphragm breathing and you are longer periods in apnea.
This has lot of side effects, including bad sleeping
2) in running you are usually doing outdoor and you are exposed to the sun and benefit in vitamin D intake, while swimming you are doing more indoor and exposed to pool chemicals and, many times bacteria in water.
3) in running, if done with the right technique you never will get joint problems, while in swimming you may developers “swimmer shoulder” or even “swimmer ear” very painful
4) Running make you aware of you limits and endurance, while swimming is deceiving: you can be a good swimmer in the pool, but drown in open water
For the above reasons, I conclude, running is healthier and better than swimming

Swimming because unlike running you can't sweat in the pool and is also full body workout wish can lead you to a very high Resistance
