I'd say give it ammo variations. Explosive, pierce, and Ems arrows able to change it by holding R.

Instantly giving it an identity and a very unique place. Though that's an extreme suggestion.

To be honest. The crossbow really has no place in Helldivers. It's slow and you get out numbered real quick.

I think it should also get a fire perk so when it explodes it gets like a 5m fire bomb

So I know the animation shows like the crossbow is loading automatically, but if you look at the structure around the underside of the weapon, you'll notice that it looks segmented. That's because in real life there are crossbows like that, and that's actually a way to more easily pull back the string, by "cocking" the crossbow, almost like a lever action rifle. So one handing isn't really feasible. And that also goes for smaller crossbows. Even those suckers have quite a involved reloading process. But great ideas still!

I think if they changed the crossbow so that there's no reloading, but instead you simply load every shot, and just have a total ammo pool, that could help the weapon shine as more of a wave clear tool. And give it the ability to kill bug nest/factories.

Being an explosive, it should be able to take out bug holes and fabricators.

The Crossbow is great, it being silent is insanely good utility. You can use it to snipe bots from over 80m away, and they won't immediately know where you are, unlike other weapons.

It takes some getting used to, but I'm able to consistently hit targets at 80-100m away, and then reposition faster than they get a bead on me. The explosion is great for directing enemies to an area you want them to go, allowing for easier stealth.

It shines against the bots. One hit killing Scout Striders is really good, and paired with the silence of the weapon and the misdirection you can do, it's become my go-to primary. Pair it with a support that can handle heavy armor, like the Quasar Cannon, Autocannon, AMR, EAT, Spear, or Recoilless and the Grenade Pistol, and you can handle anything. Pair it with stun/smoke grenades and you become damn near undetectable.

Another thing it can do is alert bot outposts from over 100m away, stand 180m away from an outpost, fire straight up a few times, while facing the direction of the outpost, run closer until the enemies spawn in(~140m away from the outpost), and they'll call in a bot drop, putting it on cooldown, allowing your team to do an objective without any chance of a bot drop happening. It takes ~18 seconds for the bolt fired straight up to land, and it lands 180m away from the firing position every time, meaning that this strategy always works.

The Crossbow is also significantly quicker than the Eruptor, with a faster fire rate, and a WAY faster turn speed. It's a very strong weapon.

I feel that this weapon is being misused. Something that very few people seem to know is that firing the weapon has an extremely low sound profile. It has become my go to for sneaky gameplay. When the bolt detonates the unalerted enemies will turn towards the explosion giving me the ability to sneak passed groups or reposition to fire again.

I love the crossbow it’s fun especially for stealth . people complain but your supposed to bring support weapons that compliment it . If u equip crossbow don’t equip grenade pistols . Maybe bring a turret or support weapons that aren’t as slow like machine guns or AC .

My personal solution would be to, instead of exploding on impact, have it explode on a short delay of half a second. Additionally, give the initial hit the same knockback property as the beginner shotgun. Keep everything else the same, but it would help fix so many of its problems since the enemy would be moved away before the bolt explodes.
I think the issue with it is that it largely does the same thing as the Eruptor. The solutions I see either keep it too similar to the Eruptor or introduce mechanics that make it too out there. But this is introducing mechanics that already exist, but in a way that is unique and allows it to stand out as an inbetween of the Eruptor and the shotgun, with all the current utility.

How many bugs do you get with a mag of a breaker which is considered a good weapon?? From 2 to 8. You were getting 9 consistently in the footage you showed. Why does everybody feel the need to play on level 9 which is meant to be frustrating, and then complain about the guns not being good enough??
