A collection of some very scary and dangerous brakes we gave seen on vintage buses. The ultimate most dangerous brake story we have ever seen from 2019. The previous mechanic made the front brake completely inoperative.

Scary stuff. Scott, just think how many potential accidents you prevented by repairing all these buses, you know you have...

Wow, that's bad enough that the shop should be shut down or the mechanic fired. Disgusting.

You saved Bill's life. Good job! 👍

That's scary. Your friend will have to re-learn brake application once you're done fixing it, a good mash of the pedal will toss someone through the windshield.

I drove heavy equipment all my life. I was fortunate that most companies cared about their equipment and I was safe. I drove buses for Greyhound in the 80's and felt safe but inspections are the key to safety. It does not matter what you drive.

Incompetence is a plague at all levels of the service industry. There are very few opportunities for traditional apprenticeships where it takes a couple of YEARS to learn enough to do basic jobs unsupervised. Trouble is that there are even fewer masters or seasoned journeymen to train the apprentices.

I spend over 30 years in the heavy duty truck brake business (manufacturing side). The old saying was the new brake mechanic was promoted from the wash rack.

If I don’t see a Bus Grease Monkey sticker on a bus I’m getting out of it way. That is crazy.

I’m no expert, but I’d rather have a whole lot more whoa than go.

I was a crash investigator with a large police dept. I am also a master mechanic from a previous life. i investigated a crash where a vehicle went through a red light hitting a car broadside pushing it into a power pole killing the woman. When I spoke to the driver of the car that went through the red light he said "I don't know what happened, I just did a brake job and I only had to press the pedal a few times for them to work". After looking at the botched brake job he did he was prosecuted for negligent homicide. If you don't know what you are doing don't fake it! If you bring your vehicle to a mechanic make sure they have the certification to do the job. P.S. not all "techs" at dealerships are certified and really know what they are doing.

Bill has a really nice looking bus. I would guess 1962 year. I drove a 1965 model for years. The best bus made by GM, although a suburban fishbowl would be close. Thanks for posting this.

I feel for Bill; he paid someone to fix his bus, instead that dope nearly wrecked it. Thank goodness he called Scott and got it fixed before he had an emergency stop.

Hi from the U.K. 🇬🇧 . I think the brake fitter thought that S-Cam brakes actually used the S-Cam to stop 😂. How that gorgeous bus ever stopped at all is amazing. One of my favourite you tube watches is the customer states type videos, this would fit right in ! The quality of workmanship sometimes is shocking. The perpetrators must be so proud !

In Australia we ditched S-cam bushings on our semi trailers, and went full length, greased S-cam thing ever.

Wow. That's incredible! Thankful Bill didn't have to make an emergency stop in that time before you got to him.
