Samsung Galaxy Watch - Hands On

Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Watch for 2018 at the Unpacked event in Brooklyn today. It is easily Samsung's best smartwatch to date offering 2 sizes, a number of colors, and interchangeable watch bands. The always on heart rate sensor is also a key feature for health monitoring.

A LTE version is on the way soon, but we got hands on time at the event with both sizes of the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

As a s3 owner from day one I was looking forward to this release but now I'm slightly disappointed tbh I expected it to be slimmer or at least different from s3 I got 2 years ago. My own personal opinion but I won't be upgrading to this.

PSA ..the S3 Frontier continuously tracks your heart rate. It has been able to for a few months now. Using the T Mobile variant

I bought the S3 Frontier on sale last month, and looks like I did the right decision. The only new feature in the new watch is improved water resistance. How about adding a camera? Or social media apps that do more than simple notifications?

No need to upgrade from s3 frontier, absolutely no upgrade, should have added blood pressure monitor and should have changed the design, it can be easily confused with the s3 frontier

as a frntr 3 owner upgrading to the galaxy; i gave my son my s3 and yes there are some big diffs. waterproof vs resistant is a big deal if you swim/shower/are active. the battery is greatly greatly better in all ways in galaxy. the 46 mm is obv personal preference but to use it realistically and reading flipboard or emails off of it is quite a bit easier on a bigger face. if those perks aren't a big deal then s3 is still a smokin great watch and they're on sale everywhere but the galaxy just feels far far stronger and feels like a greater fit and finish. blk s3 looks like a killer cool blk sports techie smart watch whereas the galaxy pulls off all of the techie and can still be worn with a suit and charged after 3-4 days. pretty cool. the s3 or galaxy are truly both excellent choices. ive owned 2 apple watches and yes they were comfy to wear but looked and felt so feminine i couldnt get past it. as well, i had constant connectivity issues with earbuds and iphone pairings and it starts to piss you off after a while.. samsung gear is rugged smooth and logical. goes without saying but going with samsung in watch and cell gives by far best results. seemless.

I loved my Gear S3, but when it broke I decided to wait and purchase this next watch. No MST was a deal breaker for me though. A few stores I frequent here in town, including Publix, don't support NFC pay. I just purchased another Gear S3, refurbished. I'll upgrade when everyone gets on NFC.

Why doesn't anyone build the battery into the band? It seems like it would make so much more sense than having giant thick watches. You could have each segment in the band store another battery.

I love my Gear S2 but I feel like Tizen has been updated a lot since 2017 when I got the watch since I no longer get software updates

Why do they think a stress and breathing app justifies an upgrade? How about more space, more apps on the store that are actually compatible and work more than 20% of the time or at least Sapphire crystal screen. They are selling it for the same price as the S3 was (349.99) and they just bumped the price for the s3 down (299.99)... they obviously know that it's not an upgrade if they are selling it for the same price as an older generation watch!

If you are thinking about getting one whoever is reading this get the S3, I love it and for it now being cheaper it is so much more worth it!

How is the sound quality on spotify? Paired my s3 to my headphones and noticed a difference. I'm using a Sony wh-1000xm2 with LDAC and sound quality set to very high
