Mount Nemrut
It is one of the highest peaks in the east of the Taurus Mountains in southeastern Turkey.
Nemrut Dağ or Mount Nemrut is the Hierotheseion (temple-tomb and house of the gods) built by the late Hellenistic King Antiochos of Commagene (69-34 B.C) as a monument to himself. He built tomb-sanctuary flanked by huge statues 8-9-metre high (26-30 ft) of himself, two lions, two eagles and various Greek and Iranian gods, such as Heracles-Artagnes-Ares, Zeus-Oromasdes, and Apollo-Mithras-Helios-Hermes. It is one of the most ambitious constructions of the Hellenistic period. The heads of the statues have fallen off or removed!
