47 firms placed on MOM watchlist for discriminatory hiring practices

Forty-seven employers found with possible unfair hiring practices against Singaporeans are now under the Manpower Ministry's Fair Consideration Framework watchlist. Their employment pass applications will be closely scrutinised and they could have their work pass privileges cut.

Salute MOM and Minister Josephine ... please go hard on those defiant employer .. scrutinize their employment quota ensure locals are given priority during this hard times .. If need be fine them and deploy those excessive and unjustified foreign workers ... Jobs must be given first to Singaporeans and the remaining can give to qualified foreigners .... We must take this issue seriously.

In the first place who started the problem when CECA almost allows Indian workforce having ‘free’ access to our employment market. Now we are doing containment and damage repair?

It’s good that MOM has stepped up. If we do say our education system is good it’s has to be followed by good employability of local born Singaporeans too. Shouldn’t that be the correct reflection of our system. If not then our education system is considered a failure to an extend.

Will you go after the big banks and Universities here ? No local with the right skill and education or work experience should be turned down for the same pay & skills. That is so unfair . At the same time you should not go paranoid and kill talent especially those small innovation companies that are in unique domains.. last thing shouldn't do is drive them away from Singapore. They will go to competing countries. At this Covid situation if more companies leave Singapore then we are toast. Hope there is balance.

Whichever Ministry or agency responsible to issue the work passes shld be monitoring the numbers before issuing the work passes/permits, no? Why issue, bring them in and then put the companies on a watchlist?

I know it sucks. But many contries also hire high skilled foreigners. I personally want Singapore to hire more Singaporeans as I think they are incredibly talented. But with a small country like Singapore, foreign talent is a must.
