Why Do Otters Have Whiskers?

Показать описание
#whiskers #kpassionate #seaotters
Sea otters and other marine life have an extra need for their other senses since eyesight is often limited underwater. Luckily for these adorable marine creatures, they have other senses and tools to help them navigate our oceans. One of their more powerful tools just happens to be their whiskers! Each whisker has nerve endings and a blood supply. Not only that, but sea otters actually have a heightened sense of touch! Their cute little paws are significantly more sensitive than our human hands. Here we take a look at the power of touch and what marine mammals use it for!
All the sea otters seen here were rescued as pups after becoming separated from their mothers. Each otter was deemed non-releasable by either the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada or the NOAA in the USA due to the fact that they lacked the necessary skills to survive in the wild.
