How To use Auto Hold on VW group vehicle.

So the 2012 onwards model of Golf comes with an AutoHold feature to prevent the car rolling and help with Hill starts. It can be found on almost every other VW group car as well now. Personally I love it but lots of people will be dead against it or find it confusing, So here's a little video to help understand how it works

Just took delivery of my mk7.5 golf and was wondering how this worked. This has been a big help, thanks!

It's a mystery why so many youtubers can't make videos as informative and concise as this.

I am not sure why people dislike this system. It is brilliant and I love it on my Golf 7. I have no problem moving uphill. I am also a new driver.

I simply love the Autohold feature because it holds the car braked at a stop and also automatically activates the parking brake when you park the car and stop the engine

Auto hold is amazing. Never realised how useful it was before I got a Mk7 Golf!

Nothing better than a conventional manual handbrake. The manual one will probably never go wrong, the electronic one could fail several time during the life of the car

For new drivers my first car had this and when I tell you it’s the best thing ever it’s so easy to use and it took me like 10min to get used to it

great - and again so much clearer than the VW manual !

Thanks. This is much more helpful than the relevant paragraph in the "german english" manual!

I love the electronic handbrake on my Octavia; can't forget to pull it on or off. Didn't know about the seatbelt thing though.

So basically the vehicle will never move unless the doors are shut and seatbelt is fastened??

I always loved golfs. I'm getting the money to go get a MK7 in few months! Expensive used car (around €10k) but worth it!

Just passed my test and my new car is on its way with this feature on .. I’m slightly worried tho as it takes me a little longer than an experienced driver to find the biting point especially on hills etc, it’s a diesel, I’ve basically learnt to always apply gas before lifting the clutch up to avoid stalling so I’m gonna struggle with this 😂

I have had this on my Manual Golf Mk7 for 5 years now and it works flawlessly, however, in this video are we talking about a manual or DSG box?

lets say im in a kinda steep hill, i have the autohold on, so that means i dont need to hold my foot on the break, i can find the biting point give gas and as soon as i give gas the autohold will disengage? i have a mk 7 tdi 2014 model, and i dont think the feature works, as the LED doesnt turn on when i press the button i think it might be broken. but i just want to know how it works in hills.

Thanks for video. I noticed that Auto Hold keeps brake lights lit as if your "heavy" foot remains on brake pedal! It's basically holding on the hydraulic pressure. Whereas the "normal" parking brake holds rear wheels "mechanically" without dazzling the car behind you with bright red lights!! That's why I don't use Auto Hold.

does Auto Hold work in conjunction with the auto start/stop system? (engine shutting off at stop light)
